It breaks my heart. Love your words and as I've been struggling to make it clear to her in every way, you make it sound more simple than I've been able to do. Will steal your concise words and pass them along to her. "Alana told me today that she is prettier than I am because her mommy dresses her like a princess and you don't." OMG. At age 5? Breaks my heart. And hers. The Dog Is My Favoritehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14191352223992956019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1471353673045800301.post-89836128945118038522010-05-02T18:59:40.090-04:002010-05-02T18:59:40.090-04:00Well, you know this is a topic near and dear to my...Well, you know this is a topic near and dear to my heart. I hate that as soon as kids leave parallel play they get mean. I guess it is understandable because they are learning social graces. But it is paired with their first tastes of independence. I was blindsided by the fact that all of a sudden it was less about me shadowing her and helping her through social interactions and more of me arming her with the tools to figure it out herself. When did that happen? Also, I cringe at the attitude that "kids will be mean, so teach your kids to be resilient". Shouldn't we be spending more time teaching all children to be nice? I really struggle with all of it. Good luck with everything! Z riding a horse is pretty amazing! I find myself speechless, not knowing how to console, how to help her understand, because I never understood either. Still don't. It's so difficult to see your child struggle with the same sensitive soul that mama has, huh?Cortneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09266856805009205762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1471353673045800301.post-49270556278164073912010-04-26T21:38:38.356-04:002010-04-26T21:38:38.356-04:00Awesome post. And it makes me wish for all boys from now on (I'm stereotyping, I know!) so that I will only have to deal with outright fights, not sneaky teasing and subtle bullying and game playing. Boys seem much simpler and more straightforward, sometimes. <br />Dirtier, though.Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07141742419364168878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1471353673045800301.post-63742633130822305262010-04-26T10:23:55.544-04:002010-04-26T10:23:55.544-04:00Can she just go to preschool with her riding instr...Can she just go to preschool with her riding instructor?
