Goodies

Few things can top a long visit with Gramma.

Except maybe two (2!) packages of homemade goodies IN ONE WEEK! Christmas in January!

From Whimsy!! An ipod cozy for me and cuteness for the girls!

And then, from my dear friend KG: handmade necklaces and knitted critters.

I think we all need a little infusion of goodies in January, don't we? It's important to give them to ourselves whenever possible (oh bar dark chocolate mint, I'M LOOKING AT YOU) but there is something so life-giving about receiving from others. ALLOWING yourself to receive beautiful goodies. What a blessing.

And now that I have been deported back to Cali-FREAKY-fornia for using the word "blessing", I would like to pay it forward.

Tell me, what are your favorite goodies? I will pick a random winner from the comments and send you a goody package that may or may not include homemade cookies, will not include handmade presents as my skill level in that area is SLIM TO NIL, but most definitely will include a little bit of sunshine in this dark time of year. (Comments will close Sunday at midnight. Package will hopefully be mailed sometime this year. Not to be combined with any other offers. Void where prohibited.)

Happy weekend!

I love chocolate-covered cherries, especially with dark chocolate, snickerdoodles and calls from my mom.

I love it when someone sends me dark chocolate, or a book they just finished and think I should read, or anything really that is a "just because I am thinking of you"

Oh, dude, you are so right: January needs CHEER. Whimsy's box is awesome.

I don't even think I can choose a favorite treat, I like so many things: oatmeal scotchies, no-bake cookies, Raisinets, peanut M&Ms---I'd say "anything chocolate" except that (1) I don't like dark chocolate and (2) oatmeal scotchies don't have chocolate.

Hi! Chocolate is nice. Notecards or notepads. Stickers (I have 4 kids, the love stickers). A trip away from the cold and snow (guess that can't come in a box, can it?).

Oh, what a good idea. I do have favorite treats, but during the bleakness of this month, my favorites are "anything I didn't have to make, procure, or otherwise be responsible for ushering into our home".

BLAH.

My mom still (I'm 39) sends random care packages and packages for lesser-celebrated holidays. Sometimes cookies or rice krispie treats, sometimes the oddly assorted items gleaned on clearance from various discount stores. Whatever they contain, they always seem magical!

Favorite treat is any sort of cookies without nuts. Hate nuts in cookies. Or, when my husband gives me flowers out of season, because I LOVE them sitting on the table but will never spend money on them myself.

Which reminds me, I need to get my giftie sent out to my blog reader who I drew.

I love receiving any fun little things I wouldn't typically buy myself. And anything chocolate is always a fun gift.

You are so much the cutest ever. I agree. Goodies in January are a "blessing." The best goodies ever are something the giver knows shows that she knows you. My favorite is Jenna's shoulder rubs, but I don't think one can ship that....

Dark chocolate is an all-time favorite...

But what I REALLY love is mail, just for me, that doesn't request a payment in return. :D

First the chairty give away and now this? You are handing out buckets of cheer this month. I think my favorite goodies are ones that I'm not expecting. It can be something small that made the gift giver think of me or it can be something sweet because I'll never say no to cookies. For me, a surprise gift in the mail makes my week. Enjoy your gifties!

Ooh. January does need some cheer. I love any dark chocolate and oatmeal raisin cookies.

I love any kind of cookie that does not contain mint (allergic) or nuts (nuts should be eaten by themselves, dry roasted and salted).

On the not food side, I love it when my husband picks up a book for me because he thinks I might like it. I've found a couple of authors I really like that way.

I just have to say that those homemade goodies would put a smile on my face too but my favorite goodies are always chocolate, a good cup of coffee, and quiet time to sit down with a book or magazine. I know quiet time can't be boxed up and sent but having all 3 at the same time these days is quite an indulgence especially since quiet time with 2 kids is highly unlikely!

Oh what a sweet idea! Chocolate, dark chocolate. It makes me happy just thinking about it!

Well. I really missed the boat on this one, didn't I?

BUT I am so glad you liked the package and are having fun with the goods! Yay! Finally! Whimsy gets her act together!
